What is THCa?

THCA stands for tetrahydrocannabinolic acid. It is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis plants, specifically in the trichomes, which are the resin glands of the plant. THCA is the precursor to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the primary psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” associated with cannabis use.

In its raw form, THCA does not have psychoactive effects. However, when cannabis is heated or decarboxylated (a process that involves applying heat to convert THCA into THC), it loses a carboxyl group and is transformed into THC. This conversion can occur through smoking, vaporizing, or baking the cannabis plant material.

THCA itself has shown potential therapeutic benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties, neuroprotective effects, and potential anti-cancer properties. However, more research is needed to fully understand its medicinal potential and how it interacts with the human body.

Ohio CBD Guy offers 3 strains of THCa hemp flower from Top Shelf Hemp; Green Crack (Sativa), Cherry Pie (Hybrid), and King Louis (Indica) in Pre-roll, 3.5g and 7g options! (In store only as of 5/11/23, will be on the website shortly for online ordering!)

What Kind of CBD Product is Right for You?

CBD products typically fall into three different categories; full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate. These categories are important for the public to know due to the unfortunate fact that firms typically test for THC. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD products that are hemp derived and that contain up to 0.3% THC are allowed to be sold to the public without a medical marijuana card.  This is what makes each kind of product unique:

  • Full-spectrum CBD products contain all of the naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant, including CBD, THC, other cannabinoids, and terpenes. These products can provide a more comprehensive range of potential health benefits but may also contain THC, which can cause psychoactive effects and may not be legal in some states or countries.
  • Broad-spectrum CBD products are similar to full-spectrum products in that they contain multiple cannabinoids and terpenes, but they typically have the THC removed. This makes them a good option for those who want the potential benefits of multiple compounds in the cannabis plant without any THC.
  • CBD isolate products contain only pure CBD, with all other compounds removed. These products are the most refined and typically have no flavor or aroma, making them a good choice for those who prefer a neutral taste or are sensitive to other compounds found in the plant.

It’s important to note that the effects of CBD can vary from person to person, and the best product for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen.

Fortunately, Ohio CBD Guy carries all three types of CBD products, be sure to check them out!

How CBD can Elevate Spring Activities!

  1. Relaxation and Stress Reduction: CBD has potential calming effects that may help reduce stress and anxiety, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy your springtime activities.
  2. Muscle Recovery and Discomfort Reduction: Springtime activities often involve physical exertion, such as hiking, biking, or gardening, which can lead to muscle soreness or discomfort. CBD may have potential anti-inflammatory properties that could help reduce inflammation and support muscle recovery, making it a valuable addition to your post-activity routine.
  3. Seasonal Allergy Relief: Springtime also brings seasonal allergies, which can put a damper on outdoor activities. CBD has potential anti-inflammatory properties that may help alleviate allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, itching, and congestion, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors more comfortably.
  4. Focus and Concentration: CBD may also help improve focus and concentration, which can enhance your performance during springtime activities that require mental clarity, such as gardening or outdoor sports. By supporting cognitive function, CBD can help you stay present and fully engaged in your activities.
  5. Overall Wellness Support: CBD has potential wellness benefits, including potential mood support, inflammation reduction, and immune system modulation. By incorporating CBD into your routine, you may support your overall well-being and vitality, helping you feel your best as you participate in springtime activities.

It’s important to note that CBD affects individuals differently, and the effects may vary depending on the dosage and individual factors. What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8-THC is a chemical compound found within cannabis. Though the cannabinoid is only found in trace amounts, delta-8-THC can provide much-needed relief when it is isolated. When it comes to delta-8-THC’s relation to delta-9-THC, the molecular structure is only slightly different, but important.

Delta-8-THC is psychoactive, but the head high is less intense compared to delta-9-THC. Patients typically describe the high from delta-8-THC as a more mellow experience. The psychoactive effects associated with the cannabinoid do not induce anxiety. Researchers believe the high associated with delta-8-THC is more enjoyable compared to delta-9-THC. This fact could bring individuals who want to try this cannabinoid some reassurance that it will not be an intense experience.

Through research, delta-8-THC has been found to combine with CB1 receptors that are located mainly in the nervous system. This fact could explain the reason why delta-8-THC is excellent at reducing nausea and vomiting. In a study conducted in 1995, Dr. Raphael Mechoulan administered delta-8-THC to eight children battling different hematologic cancers. All children, ages ranging from three to thirteen years old, were exposed to chemotherapy and a variety of different drugs about eight months before the study. The results of the study showed that vomiting was stopped entirely for the patients.

The cannabinoid also had no known side-effects. This study shows the enormous potential delta-8-THC has for individuals who experience nausea and vomiting. Delta-8-THC has the potential to improve the quality of life for individuals trying to fight a variety of illnesses.

What Are Terpenes?

terpenes in ohio

Terpenes are compounds found in all plants. They determine what the plant smells like, tastes like, and they also are known to have therapeutic values. Cannabis being a plant, contains terpenes. Terpenes and their benefits are generating a lot of interest in the CBD world!

Below, you’ll learn the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about terpenes. Specifically, we’ll address what terpenes are good for and how it may effect you. We hope this helps you as you learn more about CBD.

What Are Terpenes Good For?

There are more than 200 types of terpenes out there. Each one has it’s smell, taste, and therapeutic value. It’s important to educate yourself about terpenes if you are going to use a product that contains them.

While the FDA does approve terpenes to treat any conditions, they are known to provide benefits for pain, inflammation, stress, anxiety, sleep, infections, and more. Some examples of terpenes found in Cannabis are Myrcene, Alpha Pinene, Beta Caryophyllene, and Limonene.

Specific terpenes influence how you feel. Myrcene and Alpha Pinene, for instance, are calming terpenes. Limonene and Terpinolene, on the other hand, are more likely to help you stay alert and be creative. Caryophyllene strikes a balance between these two energy levels.

Do Terpenes Get You High?

No, terpenes by themselves will not get you high. When combined with THC, they can influence your high, but the terpenes themselves are not psychoactive. This is similar to CBD, which also won’t get you high.

What Is The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

cannabis flowers in ohio

Hemp and marijuana are both Cannabis but are different in a few ways. Our government has very specific legal perspectives on these two plants so it is important to understand the differences.

In this article, you’ll learn about a few of the differences between hemp and marijuana and how they can be used.

CBD Versus THC Content

The biggest difference between hemp and marijuana is the cannabinoid content. Hemp is rich in CBD while marijuana is rich in THC. THC produces a intoxicating or high effect with the levels found in marijuana. Hemp can legally contain 0.3% or less THC. The THC level found in hemp will not produce an intoxication effect but it has been known to help our body absorb the other cannabinoids including CBD and help with pain relief (FDA does not approve CBD to treat any condition).

Are Marijuana and Hemp Legal?

Hemp is legal in all 50 states, and has been since the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill.

The legality of marijuana is significantly more complicated, with various states legalizing it to various degrees. Depending on the state you live in, marijuana may be legal for medical use, recreational use, or both. It is not legal on the federal level.

What are Hemp and Marijuana Used For?

Cannabis has been used to make medicine, paper, clothing and more for thousands of years! The classification of hemp and marijuana is really a government created term to classify it’s legality. While hemp been popular in textiles, helping to create clothing, rope, and so on, one of its biggest uses since its recent legalization has been for CBD products. Marijuana has been primarily used as a medicine and recreational product.

How Can I Be Sure My CBD Is Safe?

Is CBD Safe?

Ensuring that our customers receive the safest and highest quality products is our priority at Ohio CBD Guy. CBD is currently an unregulated space so it is critically important that you do your research and educate yourself on what to look for to make sure you get the right product.

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know: whether CBD itself is safe, why you should carefully examine the brand you’re buying from, considerations to make if you believe your CBD may have expired, and more. We hope this information helps you as you enjoy the many benefits of CBD!

Is CBD Safe?

Yes! All mammals have an Endocannabinoid System, a part of our central nervous system that regulates how we respond to stress, anxiety, pain, inflammation, sleep, and so much more. Our CB1 and CB2 receptors interact with the endocannabinoids our bodies produce naturally and the phytocannabinoids found in cannabis such as CBD and THC. This is why CBD has helped me and so many of my family and customers!

CBD is a non-intoxicating compound found in Cannabis. Hemp and Marijuana are both Cannabis. THC can be intoxicating at higher levels but hemp derived Full Spectrum CBD products can only legally contain 0.3% THC. It should not have any intoxicating effect at that level.

Know What’s In The Products You’re Buying

Transparency and traceability is so important when shopping for CBD products. You should only purchase products that are third party lab tested and have a Certificate of Analysis easily accessible. The COA will show how much CBD, THC, and other Cannabinoids are in the product, terpene profile and content, and show that it is free from any pesticides, heavy metals, or toxic chemicals. We only work with third-party sellers who offer lab test results on their website.

What About Expired CBD?

Most quality CBD companies will put an expiration date on their products. While expired CBD products are generally safe to consume, the potency will potentially weaken over time.

What Is CBD and What Is It Good For?

CBD

CBD has exploded in popularity recently, but some people still have questions. What exactly is CBD, and how is it related to marijuana? What can it be used for, and how can you take it? A lot of people are enjoying CBD, which means you may want to learn what it can do for you.

In this article, we’ll let you know what CBD is and what it can be used for. It’s our hope that this helps you start enjoying the many joys that CBD can offer. You’ll also learn where you can get high-quality CBD in Ohio.

What Is CBD?

While marijuana is made up of a variety of different components, the two you need to understand are THC and CBD. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that gets you high.

CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t get you high. The fact that it’s non intoxicating is probably a major factor as to why it’s legal in all 50 states.

What Is CBD Good For?

We cannot say that CBD treats pain, inflammation, sleep, stress and anxiety because the FDA does not approve it for these conditions.

CBD is also used in a variety of different beauty products and topicals. You can find CBD in products that could potentially help with so many things.

While medical research is being done into a number of other potential benefits for CBD — with some promising results when it comes to so many serious conditions– more research needs to come out before the scientific community comes to a consensus regarding these benefits.

Topicals and Skincare

This form of CBD generally doesn’t enter the bloodstream, but our customers have found it beneficial for many reasons. We cannot say that CBD can treat pain, inflammation, stress, anxiety, or sleep because the FDA does not approve CBD to treat specific conditions.

CBD is frequently used in beauty products and topicals. CBD is widely considered safe for skin application.
