About Ohio CBD Guy

Jason Friedman, owner of Ohio CBD Guy, reflects on starting the business in 2017. “My wife and I were struggling with significant stress, anxiety, and sleep issues. Additionally my wife was dealing with back, neck, and shoulder pain (likely caused by all of the stress). We were both taking prescription medications and self-medicating with alcohol and drugs. I had used marijuana since I was a young adult to help me with stress, anxiety, and depression, but as I got into my mid to late thirties I noticed it wasn’t helping as much and in some cases it was making my anxiety worse.”

In 2018, a friend introduced Friedman to hemp derived CBD. “It made such a profound and positive impact in my life that I developed a passion to spread this knowledge to anyone who would listen. My wife and I healed ourselves and no longer rely on any prescription medications and have found healing and balance in our life. I decided to start my mission to provide a resource for our community for those seeking to learn more about this safe and natural remedy.”

Ohio CBD Guy initially opened their business as a kiosk at Kenwood Towne Center in Cincinnati. The response from the community and media was overwhelming, but led to unexpected setbacks. “Three months after opening, the Ohio State Pharmacy Board lumped hemp derived CBD in with their medical marijuana program and I was labeled a criminal. I refused to let this stop me. So we immediately left the mall to open our first brick and mortar store right across the Roebling Bridge in Covington, KY where the hemp laws were progressive and favorable. Once Ohio legalized hemp in 2019 we opened our East Walnut Hills store and then our Montgomery store in 2020.”

“At Ohio CBD Guy we pride ourselves in providing the most comprehensive education, highest quality products, and the best selection in the city,” Friedman said.

What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8-THC is a chemical compound found within cannabis. Though the cannabinoid is only found in trace amounts, delta-8-THC can provide much-needed relief when it is isolated. When it comes to delta-8-THC’s relation to delta-9-THC, the molecular structure is only slightly different, but important.

Delta-8-THC is psychoactive, but the head high is less intense compared to delta-9-THC. Patients typically describe the high from delta-8-THC as a more mellow experience. The psychoactive effects associated with the cannabinoid do not induce anxiety. Researchers believe the high associated with delta-8-THC is more enjoyable compared to delta-9-THC. This fact could bring individuals who want to try this cannabinoid some reassurance that it will not be an intense experience.

Through research, delta-8-THC has been found to combine with CB1 receptors that are located mainly in the nervous system. This fact could explain the reason why delta-8-THC is excellent at reducing nausea and vomiting. In a study conducted in 1995, Dr. Raphael Mechoulan administered delta-8-THC to eight children battling different hematologic cancers. All children, ages ranging from three to thirteen years old, were exposed to chemotherapy and a variety of different drugs about eight months before the study. The results of the study showed that vomiting was stopped entirely for the patients.

The cannabinoid also had no known side-effects. This study shows the enormous potential delta-8-THC has for individuals who experience nausea and vomiting. Delta-8-THC has the potential to improve the quality of life for individuals trying to fight a variety of illnesses.

What Are Terpenes?

terpenes in ohio

Terpenes are compounds found in all plants. They determine what the plant smells like, tastes like, and they also are known to have therapeutic values. Cannabis being a plant, contains terpenes. Terpenes and their benefits are generating a lot of interest in the CBD world!

Below, you’ll learn the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about terpenes. Specifically, we’ll address what terpenes are good for and how it may effect you. We hope this helps you as you learn more about CBD.

What Are Terpenes Good For?

There are more than 200 types of terpenes out there. Each one has it’s smell, taste, and therapeutic value. It’s important to educate yourself about terpenes if you are going to use a product that contains them.

While the FDA does approve terpenes to treat any conditions, they are known to provide benefits for pain, inflammation, stress, anxiety, sleep, infections, and more. Some examples of terpenes found in Cannabis are Myrcene, Alpha Pinene, Beta Caryophyllene, and Limonene.

Specific terpenes influence how you feel. Myrcene and Alpha Pinene, for instance, are calming terpenes. Limonene and Terpinolene, on the other hand, are more likely to help you stay alert and be creative. Caryophyllene strikes a balance between these two energy levels.

Do Terpenes Get You High?

No, terpenes by themselves will not get you high. When combined with THC, they can influence your high, but the terpenes themselves are not psychoactive. This is similar to CBD, which also won’t get you high.

What Is The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

cannabis flowers in ohio

Hemp and marijuana are both Cannabis but are different in a few ways. Our government has very specific legal perspectives on these two plants so it is important to understand the differences.

In this article, you’ll learn about a few of the differences between hemp and marijuana and how they can be used.

CBD Versus THC Content

The biggest difference between hemp and marijuana is the cannabinoid content. Hemp is rich in CBD while marijuana is rich in THC. THC produces a intoxicating or high effect with the levels found in marijuana. Hemp can legally contain 0.3% or less THC. The THC level found in hemp will not produce an intoxication effect but it has been known to help our body absorb the other cannabinoids including CBD and help with pain relief (FDA does not approve CBD to treat any condition).

Are Marijuana and Hemp Legal?

Hemp is legal in all 50 states, and has been since the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill.

The legality of marijuana is significantly more complicated, with various states legalizing it to various degrees. Depending on the state you live in, marijuana may be legal for medical use, recreational use, or both. It is not legal on the federal level.

What are Hemp and Marijuana Used For?

Cannabis has been used to make medicine, paper, clothing and more for thousands of years! The classification of hemp and marijuana is really a government created term to classify it’s legality. While hemp been popular in textiles, helping to create clothing, rope, and so on, one of its biggest uses since its recent legalization has been for CBD products. Marijuana has been primarily used as a medicine and recreational product.

How Can I Be Sure My CBD Is Safe?

Is CBD Safe?

Ensuring that our customers receive the safest and highest quality products is our priority at Ohio CBD Guy. CBD is currently an unregulated space so it is critically important that you do your research and educate yourself on what to look for to make sure you get the right product.

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know: whether CBD itself is safe, why you should carefully examine the brand you’re buying from, considerations to make if you believe your CBD may have expired, and more. We hope this information helps you as you enjoy the many benefits of CBD!

Is CBD Safe?

Yes! All mammals have an Endocannabinoid System, a part of our central nervous system that regulates how we respond to stress, anxiety, pain, inflammation, sleep, and so much more. Our CB1 and CB2 receptors interact with the endocannabinoids our bodies produce naturally and the phytocannabinoids found in cannabis such as CBD and THC. This is why CBD has helped me and so many of my family and customers!

CBD is a non-intoxicating compound found in Cannabis. Hemp and Marijuana are both Cannabis. THC can be intoxicating at higher levels but hemp derived Full Spectrum CBD products can only legally contain 0.3% THC. It should not have any intoxicating effect at that level.

Know What’s In The Products You’re Buying

Transparency and traceability is so important when shopping for CBD products. You should only purchase products that are third party lab tested and have a Certificate of Analysis easily accessible. The COA will show how much CBD, THC, and other Cannabinoids are in the product, terpene profile and content, and show that it is free from any pesticides, heavy metals, or toxic chemicals. We only work with third-party sellers who offer lab test results on their website.

What About Expired CBD?

Most quality CBD companies will put an expiration date on their products. While expired CBD products are generally safe to consume, the potency will potentially weaken over time.

What Is CBD and What Is It Good For?

CBD

CBD has exploded in popularity recently, but some people still have questions. What exactly is CBD, and how is it related to marijuana? What can it be used for, and how can you take it? A lot of people are enjoying CBD, which means you may want to learn what it can do for you.

In this article, we’ll let you know what CBD is and what it can be used for. It’s our hope that this helps you start enjoying the many joys that CBD can offer. You’ll also learn where you can get high-quality CBD in Ohio.

What Is CBD?

While marijuana is made up of a variety of different components, the two you need to understand are THC and CBD. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that gets you high.

CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t get you high. The fact that it’s non intoxicating is probably a major factor as to why it’s legal in all 50 states.

What Is CBD Good For?

We cannot say that CBD treats pain, inflammation, sleep, stress and anxiety because the FDA does not approve it for these conditions.

CBD is also used in a variety of different beauty products and topicals. You can find CBD in products that could potentially help with so many things.

While medical research is being done into a number of other potential benefits for CBD — with some promising results when it comes to so many serious conditions– more research needs to come out before the scientific community comes to a consensus regarding these benefits.

What Different Types of CBD Products Are There?

CBD in East Walnut Hills, Ohio

Whether you’re trying CBD for the first time or you’re just looking for something new, it’s worth taking a look at the various products available to make an informed purchase. Wondering whether you should get tinctures or edibles? Unsure whether or not you can feed CBD products to your animals?

In this article, we’ll cover the many different types of CBD products. These includes tinctures, topicals, skincare, edibles, capsules, pet care, beverages, vapes, inhalers, and more. By the end of the article, you should have a better idea of what you’re looking for.

Tinctures

Tinctures are CBD liquids designed to be taken under the tongue, held for 90 seconds, and swallowed. Holding it under the tongue before swallowing allows it to enter your bloodstream faster.

Tinctures consist of a carrier oil (MCT oil, Safflower oil, Hempseed Oil, Avocado oil, etc) and either hemp extract (full spectrum / broad spectrum) or CBD isolate – To learn more about full/broad spectrum versus CBD isolate, visit our education section here.

Topicals and Skincare

This form of CBD generally doesn’t enter the bloodstream, but our customers have found it beneficial for many reasons. We cannot say that CBD can treat pain, inflammation, stress, anxiety, or sleep because the FDA does not approve CBD to treat specific conditions.

CBD is frequently used in beauty products and topicals. CBD is widely considered safe for skin application.

View and purchase our CBD topicals and skincare products here.

Edibles and Capsules

Edibles and capsules are a familiar way to take CBD, since this form of ingestion is done by either eating the edibles or swallowing the capsules.

Both edibles and capsules can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes to take effect.

Some of the CBD edibles we offer at Ohio CBD Guy are: Gummies, Mints, Gum, Honey, Jelly Beans, and Hot Sauce. View and purchase our CBD edible and capsule products here.

Pet Care

All mammals have an endocannabinoid system. Therefore, CBD can benefit pets too!

Ohio CBD Guy currently offers treats, tinctures, topicals, and toys for dogs and cats. View and purchase our CBD pet products here.

Beverages

CBD Beverages offer a unique non-alcoholic option to those looking to incorporate CBD into their daily lifestyle. At Ohio CBD Guy we offer many different CBD beverage options including coffee, tea, flavored seltzer, flavored waters, lemonade, ginger beer, and more. View and purchase our CBD beverage products here.

Inhalation of CBD actually has the highest and fastest absorption rate of any other method. CBD can be inhaled through vape cartridges, inhalers, and the hemp flower. Some people feel that vaping or smoking CBD may not be the healthiest options, but can be useful for those looking to quit smoking or vaping nicotine. View or purchase these products here.

How Do I Take CBD?

CBD Oil

At Ohio CBD Guy, we believe in spreading awareness about the health benefits that CBD provides. We understand that it can be overwhelming to try taking CBD for the first time, since there are so many products available in this fast-growing market.

Below, you’ll learn everything you need to know in order to find the right CBD product for you.

Why Are You Interested in CBD?

The first and most important step to finding the right CBD oil or other CBD products is determining what you’re using it for. We cannot say that CBD is good for stress, anxiety, sleep, pain, and inflammation because the FDA does not approve it for specific conditions.

So ask yourself: what are you trying to achieve with CBD?

Of course, it’s always good to consult with a medical professional before taking CBD, in order to determine whether or not it’s a good fit for you. It’s also good to speak with a CBD professional, who understands the market and can find the perfect product to fit your needs.

Below you’ll find some general information about the various ways you can take CBD.

How Can You Take CBD?

CBD edibles are a popular form of CBD as they can be in familiar food product you already consume. CBD beverages are popular for this same reason: tea is a common CBD beverage, but you can also find it in beer, soda, water, and even coffee!

Topicals and lotions are also popular, particularly for people who are using CBD as part of their skincare routine. Tinctures, edibles, vapes, and inhalers are all great ways to take CBD.

Can You Take Too Much CBD?

This is a question we frequently get from people taking CBD for the first time, but there’s little reason to worry. According to the World Health Organization’s “CANNABIDIOL (CBD) Pre-Review Report”, CBD “is generally well tolerated, with a good safety profile.”

At the same time, we do recommend taking a small dose your first time. This allows you to make sure that you don’t have an adverse reaction to any of the materials in your product.

You also don’t have to worry about CBD getting you intoxicated, regardless of how much of it you take.

What’s the Best Way to Take CBD?

As we hope this article has explained, different forms of CBD have different benefits. However, if you’re not sure where to start or you’re looking for something new, we recommend tinctures. It promotes high levels of absorption while also being very convenient to carry.

Looking for CBD Products?

Ohio CBD Guy is here to help. We offer a suite of different CBD products designed to help you.
